I went into a library today at the mall. Looking for the music I like among the CD's felt like I wanted to find the satanic bible. So I was surprised to see they have Metallica and other. Then I saw Lulu. First I feeled bad I forgot about this album. Now I feel bad I remembered about it in the first place. I'm happy that the album is expensive and didn't want to buy it too.
I won't even bother to talk about each song. 3 of them are over 11 minutes long, but in the whole song the riffs are repeating on the background and Lou meows over them. Iced Honey is seen as the best on the album.
Though this not a creation by Lou Reed or Metallica. Remeber it's based on two old plays originally written by the German playwright Frank Wedekind. A century ago. Yeah. Blame Frank if the lyrics look weird.
All songs (10) are pretty much the same thing. Instrumentals by Metallica, which does not suck but doesn't make them very good either, and the speaking, not singing, of Lou Reed, because he basically reads the charaters lines.
Some comments on YouTube on the songs sums up very well what you must know about this album. I quote:
"this is an album not for the "metallica mainstreamers", it is for people who know how to enjoy music, musicians, poets, psychiatrists." - dinorellano
"if cliff burton was alive this would not happening..." - metalbcn96

Bloody 2011
Hey there fellow metalheads, so yeah, it has been a very, very long time since I last posted anything on my blog, but I am fucking back! And more powerful than ever... not so really, but anyways. I have been really busy the last few months, studying all theese shitloads of data they give you at pre-university educational systems... most of you know that kind of stuff, and apart from that, and yeah, I started with "stuff" and not "stüff", but don't worry we will get to the exciting stüff in a tiny little bit, well, apart from lots of studying that completely wasted like, what, 190% of my time, with the rest of the 10% being the time I spend out hanging with my palls, there also came the New BLOODY Year! Yeah! 2011 is here and here's when we get into stüff, and I mean real, heavy stüff as we all love.
So to kick it off, I want to say that zero-eleven is oficially "The Grand Year Of Reuniting!" a good number of some pretty epic Modern/Nu/Rap Metal bands are coming back, bands like... hmm... theese unimportant and pretty uknown dudes that call themselves, like what, System of a Down?! Yeah, the clock ticked, and ticked, for nearly half a decade, but we are standing before the moment we ALL waited for, S.O.A.D. oficially announced some tour dates, wich include the Geenfield Festival in good ol' Switzerland, Metaltown in Sweden, which as you should know, is one of the two countries in the peninsula of metal, Nova Rock Festival of Austria, Provinssirock in a very metal country also, I'm talking about Finlands, and, the last - the best, two giant shows, Rock am Ring in Germany, how can you get anything that's more epic? You can't, but you can get something at least equally epic, S.O.A.D. will also be there, in the one and only Download Festival in the United Kingdom! This is really epic stüff, but we all knew this stüff for some time already no? What was really enigmatic about System is that they only announced shows in Europe, which is understandable, being that Europe is the land of metal (proud to be European). But what about our fellow Americans? They also love metal, and they... emmmm... kind of deserve it, too. well on March, 1, of the New Bloody Year, they also announced in the western part of America, and I mean North America, of course. The clock in Edmonton, Canada, sadly, is still ticking, but it's ticking it's final ticks! On May 10, 2011, that clock will stop ticking, and System of a Down will be oficially back!
But of course, why would 2011 be the year of reunions if only one epic band would reunite... Fellow metalheads, even if America focuses on Europe now, I mean... System on Europe, well Europe has something equally epic in return for our fellow Americans. Out of Europe's finest, the avant-garde metal gods Arcturus will reunite, and will be there at ProgPower USA XII in Atlanta, Georgia! This is the first exclusive reunion show of Arcturus, and I have to say that in this half a decade of absence I really lost hope of an Arcturus comeback, but here you have it, the Norwegian warriors once again showed why their blood is filled with more metal than anyone else's blood. Arcturus frontman and vocalist says: "ProgPower USA 2011 will host the first Arcturus concert in five years. This is our first performance in the United States and since we're all retarded, probably the last." This "probably the last" thing is really scary actually, but if you take a close look to the exact words Icy chose, it will probably the last show in the USA, that wouldn't really mind me, cause I live in Europe and because that means we might also have an album. I only hope that's true, anyways, after the show Arcturus members will gather and decide the fate of the band, so all we can do, is to hope that they choose what we want them to choose, what we need them to choose, because life without Arcturus is monotonous and boring.
Finally lads, I want to talk about myself a little bit more, today I felt changed, all this studying can actually creep your brains out of your sanity, and drain to the last drop of you bloody moral. But somehow, now I can manage my time better, it's not so bad now, concerning all the things I must do for school. I feel anew, I can actually do stüff, and I don't spend my whole time inside six cube-shaped walls. I've also moved to another house, and damn this house is so great because it is pretty old and has that rusty wood feel about it, but really the thing that still echoes inside my brain is that it's so cold here, but somehow it has a really warm cold, I mean... a very welocoming cold, it gives you kind of a Norwegian feeling which is the best feeling one could ever feel in life. I feel more active now, and I'm not always with the fear of not being prepared well enough for some exam, all that stress is going away, and I will start once again writing in the Daily. Concerning the Daily, it's not going to be reviews only, it could also be on random topics such as this one, until then, see you lads!

"metalheads can can choose to keep there heads up there own ass or choose to see the true joy in listening the the unique and special union of metal legends Metallica and old skool rocker Lou Reed...Its fuckin out there for sure, no doubt... fuckin good on em...."DIFFERENT" is good....Fuck normal.............embrace the uncommon.....metallica will write more cool heavy metal albums......let them have fun with other styles.......hey they might even invent a new one........" -benocummiskey
...so I am not saying that this album sucks, but it's too different and few appreciate it. I, myself, wait for some better moments to try it again. Lou's style doesn't seem to get along with Metallica's.
I recommend to listen the songs first somewhere like YouTube before download them or buy the disc. It might feel like wasted HDD space or money.
With Rammstein retiring, Disturbed's indefinitely pause and this album, I see a grim future for metal...
